Johnny Depp’s defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard is sparking debates — in and out of the courtroom.
Has viral TikTok shows an LA Starbucks capitalizing on the drama and pitting fans against Depp, 58, and Heard, 36.
The video, which has been viewed 4.7 million times, shows a car pull through the drive-thru where two tip jars — one labeled “Johnny Depp” and one labeled “Amber Heard” — sit on the windowsill.
TikToker Summer Canova shared the video showing her adding to the already filled “Johnny Depp” jar, which sits next to the empty “Amber Heard” one.
“One for Johnny!” Canova is heard cheering in the video, with the “Pirates of the Caribbean” theme song playing over the clip.
“Supporting our local baristas and our man,” she captioned the video, which has amassed 547,700 likes and 1,782 comments from viewers all around the world.
The two actors have feuded in and out of the courtroom since they ended their marriage in 2017. Their explosive trial proceedings are still currently underway at the Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia, which will ultimately determine if Depp was defamed by Heard’s 2018 Washington Post essay that many read as a blow by blow of the “Rango” star’s alleged abuse.
Depp, who has vehemently denied the allegations, is seeking at least $50 million to compensate for the damage done to his career, plus an additional $350,000 in punitive damages, attorneys’ fees and court costs.
The tip jar video has received mixed reviews, with some calling the move insensitive. However, many commenters chimed in to express their support for Depp.
“If anyone puts it in the Amber box they should be barred for life,” Keiran Menhams commented.
“Put dirt on Amber’s side,” Linda Victoria suggests.
“The fact there isn’t even small change in Amber’s jar,” Emma Hyytiäinen noted.
“Excuse me while I put all my money for Johnny,” Menendez-supporter quipped.
“Someone poop in the Amber one, please,” Gregory Thomas encouraged, poking fun at Depp’s claim that Heard left a “fecal delivery” in his bed during their relationship.
Some users said that other Starbucks stores have had Depp vs. Heard tip jars, with the “Aquaman” actress only earning a few change coins.
But not everyone was ready to pick a side or make jabs about the highly publicized defamation case.
“Does anyone else not like this trend?” hideinthemoonlight questioned.
“Why yall treating a domestic abuse case like it’s a game?? This is weird,” Momo noted.
“What is wrong [with] yall?” Merenthusiast asked.
This isn’t the first time Starbucks baristas have used celebrity feuds to lure in tips. TikTok users previously shared tip jar debates for Will Smith and Chris Rock after the oscars slapmore Pete Davidson versus Kanye West.
